Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools: Feb. 22, 2:30 p.m., 1000 Block of Great Highway

A man locked his bicycle to a pole near the seawall at Ocean Beach and walked away. A short time later, he saw a man cut the lock, get on the bicycle and ride away.

The victim chased the suspect and managed to grab the bike but the suspect sped away and escaped. A witness saw what happened and told the victim to get into her car to look for the thief.

A search was unsuccessful so the witness dropped the victim off at the parking lot. While the witness was leaving, she spotted the burglar and started honking her horn.

Several other witnesses approached the suspect, who dropped the bicycle and walked away.

Officers arrived at the scene and arrested the 44-year-old suspect, who had stolen two bicycles that afternoon and was in possession of burglary tools.

Robbery: Feb. 13, 12:55 a.m., 500 Block of Spruce Street

A man was walking when he noticed the suspect running right at him, with a hand gun in his hand.

A second suspect grabbed the victim from behind and took his wallet and cell phone before the two suspects fled. They were described as both being between 20 and 30 years of age and wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Hot Prowl Burglary: Feb. 8, 4:55 p.m., 2400 Block of Lake Street

A tenant in a lower flat heard the sound of breaking glass in the unit above him and heard a thumping noise, like the sound of someone jumping into the flat. The unit, the tenant knew, was vacant so he called police.

Officers responding to the scene covered the front and rear entrances. They announced their presence and saw the suspect coming down the back stairs carrying a DVD player.

The 56-year-old parolee suspect saw the officers and ran back upstairs. He eventually surrendered to the officers at the broken window and was arrested.

Robbery, Possession of Stolen Property: Feb. 5, 6:55 p.m., Sixth Avenue and Geary Boulevard

A woman got off a Muni #38 bus and noticed the suspect, who was also riding the bus, had exited and was following her. Suddenly, the suspect grabbed the victim's purse and started running on Seventh Avenue toward Clement Street.

The victim screamed "help" and started chasing the suspect. Three men heard the women's pleas for help and tackled the suspect and retrieved the purse. The suspect then walked away.

An off-duty police officer saw the three Good Samaritans tackle the suspect and enquired what had happened. After hearing of the robbery, he followed the suspect, who got on a Muni bus.

The off-duty officer called the police department, which stopped the bus on Clement and arrested the thief.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had committed a robbery at 25th Avenue and Geary less that an hour prior. The suspect, a 19-year-old male who had just been released from the County Jail at 3:30 p.m. earlier that day, was transported to the police station and booked.

Narcotics Violation, Sexual Battery: Feb. 3, 7:20 p.m., Arguello Boulevard and Balboa Street

A woman was opening the front door to her apartment building when a man, who had just passed the victim on the sidewalk, used his shoulder to wedge open the door.

The victim tried to force the door shut, but was unsuccessful as the suspect refused to yield.

The suspect asked for the victim's phone number but she said "no." The suspect then grabbed the woman in a personal area and fled.

Officers located the 23-year-old suspect, who was on parole, at Second Avenue and Balboa Street. He had suspected narcotics in his possession. After the suspect was positively identified, he was arrested and booked.

Assault and Battery, Robbery: Feb. 3, 10:10 p.m., 19th Avenue and Clement Street

A man left a bar and was attacked by two unknown suspects, who knocked him to the ground and took his wallet out of his back pocket.

The suspects, described as being between 20 and 30 years of age, fled southbound on 19th Avenue.

Armed Robbery: Feb. 3, 11:33 p.m., 2900 Block of Pacific Avenue

A suspect, wearing a mask and armed with a hand gun, entered a business and demanded money.

After getting money from the cash register, the suspect fled the scene.

Muni Fare Evasion, Resisting Arrest: Feb. 2, 5:50 p.m., 12th Avenue and Geary Boulevard

Officers were on a Muni #38 Geary bus checking passengers for proof of payment when they encountered a 22-year-old male without any proof of payment.

The officers explained the process to the suspect, who became agitated and began swearing at the officers.

"Your not giving me a f____ ticket," the suspect said.

The officers removed the suspect from the bus. When he began to flex his muscles and clench his fist a brief struggle ensued and the suspect was taken into custody and charged.

Burglary: Feb. 1, 1 a.m., 3000 Block of Jackson Street

A concerned neighbor called police after hearing the sound of breaking glass.

Officers arrived on the scene and discovered a broken window and a wide open garage door. The suspect apparently broke the window to get access to the garage and stole a bicycle.

Vehicular Hit and Run, Child Endangerment: Jan. 30, 3:05 p.m., 800 Block of 43rd Avenue and Golden Gate Park

A 23-year-old woman got into her car and intentionally hit a vehicle on 43rd Avenue. Despite slight injuries to the victims, the woman drove off. A short time later, she hit an occupied vehicle on Chain of Lakes Drive in Golden Gate Park, again causing minor injuries to the vehicle's occupants, which included a child.

After the second accident, the suspect asked a witness for a ride downtown and attempted to get into the witness' vehicle. Officers arrived on the scene and arrested the suspect.

Several of the victims were transported by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment.
