Possession of Deadly Weapon: April 14, 4:30 p.m., Golden Gate Park
Officers responded to the soccer fields at the west end of Golden Gate Park
to investigate a report of a man with a gun. When they arrived, they discovered
a 27-year-old man with an air gun rifle in his hands. He dropped the weapon
after being ordered to do so by the officers. The suspect was charged with possession
of an air gun.
Home Invasion: April 7, 11:55 p.m., 200 Block of 18th Avenue
Three or four masked males forced their way into a home and assaulted a resident.
Witnesses gave officers a description of the vehicle the suspects fled in and
it was discovered near Cabrillo Street and 15th Avenue with two people inside.
When officers conducted a traffic stop, the driver fled but the passenger was
taken into custody. Officers responded to the address the vehicle was registered
to and waited until the second suspect returned. A short time later, he was
taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
Warrant Arrest: April 13, 2:30 p.m., Golden Gate Park
Officers were dispatched to investigate a call of two suspicious people casing
cars in a parking lot near Ocean Beach. Officers on patrol noticed the suspect's
vehicle at Geary Boulevard and 38th Avenue and effected a traffic stop. The
suspect was determined to have an outstanding warrant issued by US Marshals
for weapons possession. He was transported to the police station and booked.
Burglary: Sometime Between April 9 and April 10, 400 Block of 30th Avenue
A suspect gained entry into an office by using bolt cutters to cut two locks.
The suspect took cash and an iPod. Parole Violation, Possession of Narcotics:
April 6, 12:15 p.m., 47th Avenue and Lincoln Way Richmond District officers
noticed a vehicle traveling in front of them with expired license plates. After
conducting a traffic stop, the suspect could not produce a driver's license
and gave officers a false name. After further investigation, the officers were
able to identify the suspect as a 28-year-old man on parole for a homicide.
A search of the suspect's vehicle discovered suspected narcotics.
Strong-Armed Robbery: April 13, 1:45 p.m., Clement Street and Ninth Avenue
A woman was walking on the sidewalk when the suspect approached from behind
and knocked her to the ground. He took her purse and ran to California Street,
where a waiting get-away vehicle fled westbound.
Robbery: March 29, 1:55 a.m., 4100 Block of Geary Boulevard
A man was standing on Geary when three suspects approached. "Where's Broadway?"
one of them asked. Suddenly, another suspect grabbed the victim and held him
in a choke hold while another suspect punched him in the face. The suspects
grabbed the victim's cell phone and ran to a waiting vehicle to escape. The
victim got a license plate number and the suspects were located near Geary and
Laguna Street. A "high-risk" traffic stop was undertaken and the suspects, aged
16, 17 and 18 year olds, were taken into custody and booked on felony charges.
The victim's cell phone was found in the suspect's vehicle.
Graffiti Arrest: April 19, 9:27 p.m., California Street and Sixth Avenue
An officer on patrol noticed a man admiring graffiti on a glass panel at a bus
stop. He watched as the man walked over to a utility pole and painted it. The
officer detained the suspect, who claimed he was only trying to wipe off the
graffiti with his finger. The paint stains on the 24-year-old suspect's finger
was the same color as the still-wet paint on the pole and bus shelter. The suspect
was transported to the police station and booked on vandalism charges.
Burglary, April 11, Between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., 500 Block of Fourth Avenue
An unknown suspect entered a home via an unlocked back door or unlocked window
and stole three lap-top computers.
Possession of Stolen Property, Parole Violation: April 5, 5 p.m., Golden
Gate Park
Plainclothes officers were near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Lincoln Way
when they noticed a known felon on parole. The conducted a search of the suspect
and discovered unsigned gift certificates for a coffee shop on Balboa Street
in his possession. The owner of the business was called and he confirmed that
the serial numbers on the certificates were stolen from a safe a couple of days
earlier. The 43-year-old suspect was booked.
Outstanding Warrant: April 6, 2:20 p.m., 3800 Block of Jackson Street
A complaint came in to dispatch about a man going door-to-door ringing doorbells.
Officers found the man, who was selling cleaning products. A computer check
of the 46-year-old suspect determined he was wanted on an outstanding warrant
for forgery in the state of Alabama.
Burglary: April 8, 5:08 a.m., 3500 Block of Sacramento Street
Officers responded to a smash-and-grab in the Presidio Heights and discovered
a broken window, but no entry into the business. The owner was contacted and
he determined that the suspect stole an antique European starter cannon.
Aggravated Assault: April 20, 4:30 p.m., 800 Block of La Playa
A business employee called police to report an unruly customer, who was throwing
items off the shelves. When asked to leave, the suspect spit on the employee.
Then the suspect pulled out a pin and lunged at the employee, who put her hand
in front of her face to deflect the stab. The pin penetrated the web of the
victim's hand. The victim followed the 42-year-old suspect and pointed him out
to officers when they arrived on the scene. The suspect was arrested.
