Police Blotter
Vandalism, Battery: July 16, 6:20 p.m., 3100 Block of Geary Boulevard
A woman entered a business acting erratically. When she returned to the business
for a second time later in the day, she was told she was not welcome. The woman
grabbed an employee by the hair and was escorted outside, where she kicked the
business' glass door, breaking it. The 23-year-old woman was detained by employees
until police arrived and escorted her to the police station for booking.
Parole Violation: July 17, 9:18 a.m., 25th Avenue and Geary Boulevard
An officer on patrol noticed a woman lying face down in a bus shelter. The woman
said she was OK but a warrant check revealed the woman was wanted on an outstanding
warrant for a parole violation. She was booked.
Possession of Narcotics: July 22, 10:10 p.m., 41st Avenue and Balboa Street
Plainclothes officers on patrol noticed a male from previous arrests walking
down the street. When they attempted to make contact with him, the 29-year-old
suspect said he had done nothing wrong and continued walking. When he got in
front of the car, in full view in the vehicle's headlights, the suspect reached
into his pocket and dropped three baggies containing suspected narcotics on
the ground. He was transported to jail and booked.
Vandalism: July 17, 2:10 p.m., 600 Block of Clement Street
An employee with the SF Department of Parking and Traffic returned to his Cushman
vehicle and discovered that two tires had been punctured by an unknown suspect.
Robbery, Assault: July 19, 12:05 a.m., 24th Avenue and Clement Street An intoxicated
woman was walking home when an unknown suspect approached her and punched her
in the face before fleeing with the victim's purse.
Assault: July 19, 1:56 a.m., 3900 Block of Geary Boulevard
A man was talking to a woman singer who had just finished playing in a bar when
the woman left. A few minutes later, a man approached the victim and said the
woman claimed he had used derogatory names. The victim denied the claim, but
the male suspect took a swing at him, missing. The two men grappled until a
second man approached and hit the suspect in the head. The victim fell to his
knees and saw three other men charging at him, so he got up and ran to safely.
The suspects fled the scene and the victim was transported to the hospital for
treatment of a laceration on his head.
Arson: July 21, 2:53 a.m., 700 Block of Presidio Avenue
A fire alarm alerted sleeping tenants that there was a fire in progress. Two
tenants grabbed a fire extinguisher and a garden hose and put out a fire that
had been started at the front door of the apartment house. There were no injuries
and the investigation is ongoing.
Aggravated Assault: July 10, 1:20 p.m., 400 Block of Clement Street
A man was sitting in his parked vehicle when a delivery truck tried to park
next to him. But the truck was too wide, causing the driver to motion to the
victim that he should move his vehicle. The victim was not ready to leave, and
started talking on his cell phone. The suspect got out of his truck, opened
the victim's door, and started choking him while yelling that he should move
his vehicle. The victim was able to shut his door and call police, who located
the suspect and arrested him.
Aggravated Assault, Threats: July 12, 9:37 p.m., Sixth Avenue and Geary
Boulevard
Officers on patrol were flagged down and told about a fight in-progress in a
fast-food restaurant. When they were about to enter, the victim ran out of the
restaurant being chased by a man who threw a chair at the victim. The officers
detained the suspect, who was yelling racial slurs at the victim. The victim
was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a cut on his hand and the
suspect was taken into custody.
Hot Prowl, Assault: July 10, 1:40 a.m., 600 Block of 12th Avenue
Two males smashed the glass of a front door of a residence and entered. A man
who lived at the house heard the noise and went to investigate. When he opened
his bedroom door, he discovered two men wearing ski masks standing in the hallway.
One of the suspects pushed the man and stabbed him in the arm. Another occupant
at the home saw the victim struggling with the suspect and tried to pull the
suspect off of the victim. The second suspect grabbed the occupant and stabbed
him in the arm. The suspects fled with one of the victims in hot pursuit. But,
one of the suspects pulled out some pepper spray and shot it in the face of
the pursuer, causing him to give up the chase.
Strong-Armed Robbery: July 13, 10:20 p.m., Fourth Avenue and Balboa Street
A man was walking and talking on his cell phone when he heard footsteps behind
him. When he turned around, he saw a suspect pointing a gun at him and demanding
that he give up his wallet. At this point, a second suspect approached and took
the victim's backpack and cell phone. The victim was then pushed to the ground
and kicked several times in the legs. The suspects fled in an unknown direction.
Vandalism: Between July 8, 3 p.m., and July 9, 11 a.m., 400 Block of 18th
Avenue
An unknown suspect uprooted several trees and cut deep etches into the glass
at a playground.
